About 30 miles north on Highway 100 from our cabins is Waitsfield and the heart of Vermont's Mad River Valley. The village of Waitsfield is home to many great restaurants and shops. From winter skiing to summer kayaking, the Mad River Valley offers exciting activities throughout the year.
The Mad River Valley is active Vermont; pastoral but never passive. Drive through the Mad River Valley towns of Waitsfield, Warren, Fayston, and Moretown on scenic Vermont Route 100, and you'll be struck by the classic New England landscape and architecture — a mountain ridgeline, a winding river, hillside farms, covered bridges, and steepled villages.
Hand-crafted wooden bowls, top quality sporting equipment, blown and sculptural glass, hand-made stoneware pottery, an extraordinary collection of European Christmas ornaments and stuffed animals, quilts and quilting supplies, books, fine clothing, home furnishings, and office supplies are just a few of the items you'll find in the shops of the Mad River Valley. Enjoy an afternoon just poking around our owner-run shops and enjoy the personalized service of a bygone era.
Vermont Route 100 & 100B, as well as Rt 17 to the top of the Appalachian Gap have been designated a Scenic Byway: The Mad River Byway stretching from Middlesex to Granville. View covered bridges, a winding roadside river, waterfalls, historic architecture and working farms along the byway.
